Professional Dog Training
I, Rebekah Burgdorf, have been training professionally since 2000. Growing up with German Shepherd Dogs, I managed to do everything wrong when it came to training! I ended up with a problem dog, so I dove headfirst into the world of training in order to save her. I'd love to help you avoid the mistakes I made. I am passionate about helping you develop and maintain a positive, respectful, and fun relationship with your dog. I offer classes, private lessons, and semi-private lessons. Please email me with your mailing address, call, or stop in for an information packet.
Begins July 10, 2013 - Basic Obedience, Wednesdays at 6:30 pm.
Basic Obedience Classes - 5-Week Class - Whether you have a puppy or an adult dog, I usually recommend starting this class. It is the foundation to build on. You will learn how to incorporate simple things into your daily routine that will earn your dog's respect. Your dog will learn how to learn and will discover how much fun training can be. We will work on the typical sit, down, stay, come, etc., as well. Classes will help your dog learn to focus on you in a distracting environment. They are not a time for your dog to play with other dogs. The first week of class will be orientation, so please leave your dog at home until the second week. Classes are approximately one hour each week, and there will be homework. You will get a lot more out of the class if you do your homework every day, but the great thing about dog training is that you don't need to set aside an hour to practice. Three three-minute sessions a day will pay off more than one half-hour session.
Other Classes - Instead of scheduling additional classes, I will be offering private and semi-private lessons for those who wish to get into more advanced concepts. Many people have asked about agility classes. I can get you started on the basics here in private lessons, but I do not have the space or equipment for full courses. I highly recommend Yellowstone Dog Sports in Red Lodge for agility classes.
Private and Semi-Private Lessons - If you don't feel like you will be able to handle your dog in a class setting or if you have goals beyond those taught in the basic obedience class, private lessons may be the right fit for you. Or if you have a couple friends with similar training goals, you can schedule a semi-private lesson for up to three dogs.
We understand that not everyone is able to come to a class, so we have provided some video tutorials of Kippi's training. The following video is just one of many. Go to youtube.com/kippi1101 for more.
